Racing For Dummies 101

While I do very stupid things, I don't condone anything I have done or do, so don't try any of the following as you may not be as lucky as I was.

Spring 2003:
I was driving a white 1988 Honda CRX with one of my friends on my way to drop him off at his house. I was speeding, very fast, in a 35 mph zone and I was doing 90 mph. A state trooper had passed us in the opposite direction and immediately turned around. I sped up faster and went down some back roads, seeing the police cars lights off in the distance. I kept a good distance ahead of him, and kept flying down various side roads until I reached one of the main roads in town. I cut off a car and made my way into the nearest gas station, still hearing the sirens approaching. My heart racing, thinking that I was going to be tossed in jail, I jumped out of the car and acted as if I were pumping gas. The police car screamed by the gas station. My heart beat slowly returning to a normal speed, I pulled out of the gas station and went the opposite direction, only to never been seen again by the police.

November 2003
CLoz and I were hanging out at his place in Rhode Island, and we decided to head back to my place later on in the evening. I was now driving a red 1989 CRX with a motorswap and he was driving a blazer. We decided to race back to my house. CLoz knew all of the backroads and shortcuts to get to Connecticut, and I only knew of the one way that he had showed me. When I figured it was pointless to speed excessively, I ended up right behind him as I pulled off of the highway and onto the road that I live on. The road is 2 lanes on both sides, so I hopped into the left lane and we both hit the red light with no cars in front of us. Heading back towards my house, there's another offramp from the highway and the lanes go from 2 to 3 - the left 2 lanes are for a left turn into a shopping plaza while the right lane continues on straight. An 18 wheeler gets off the highway and goes into the lane I was in. There was one more lane on the left, and of course the lane on the right. The light turned green and CLoz and I took off. The 18 wheeler wasn't stopped at the next stop light yet, so I thought I would have plenty of time to pass him and get in front of CLoz. Nope. There was no way I was going to be able to pass the truck in time, so I blindly pulled the car to the right and prayed that I wouldn't die. Under the 18 wheeler I went and right in front of CLoz. We both thought I would be dead that night.

March 2008
I had a few beers while bowling on one of the leagues I was in and afterwards I went home before really getting drunk. On the way home, I had stopped at a gas station down the road from where I lived and ran into my cousin Smack and one of our other friends. I asked him what he was up to and he held up a beer, a bag of McDonalds and said nothing. I invited them both over for a beer or 2 and I asked him if he was planning on racing me there. He said no, with his shit eating grin on his face and once again, on the 2 lane road, we hit the stop light. I was driving a GSR Del Sol and he was in his Hyundai. I was in the left lane, and when the light turned green, we took off. I was ahead of him, though not by much, but I couldn't pull over in front of him. In front of me were a car in both left lanes stuck at the stop light, while my cousins lane had the green light to go straight. I said "fuck it" and looked at the on coming traffic lane, and a car was coming down the hill, far enough away to where I could pull into their lane, cut over 3 lanes and get in front of Smack. As I did that, I didn't quite notice the car that was in front of Smack, so I pulled in between them and came within inches of rear ending person in front of me. Backing off the car in front of me a little bit, I soon see the light bar on top of the roof, and notice the lights in the back window. It was a state trooper. I called my cousin and he said he noticed the cop about 2 seconds before I did, and had no time to warn me. Thinking I was going to get pulled over, I slowed down to about 20 mph and let the cop gain some distance in front of me. As we rounded the corner, I saw his tail lights vanish down the hill past my house.
